Potlatch Spectrum Tickets, & Why The AMM Says 'Listen to Dumitrescu!!'

The Lettriste Isidore Isou theorised two opposite yet complementary actions in avant garde art and politics - 'amplification' and 'chiselling-down'. At different times, the need for one of these actions is always paramount. At the moment, the AMM believes that what the world needs is the amplification of the audience for Dumitrescu's music. To that end, we have gained permission from Iancu Dumitrescu and Ana-Maria Avram to fill Conway Hall with new ears, and have been put in charge of distributing FREE TICKETS, providing a LICENSED BAR (to be run by Richard Thomas of Chocolate Sandwich and Resonance FM fame), running a BOOKSTALL and providing INTERVENTIONS by selected individuals between musical performances. We have also booked in T.H.F. Drenching (dictaphonist in Derek Bailey's last quintet Limescale) and Alan Wilkinson (the most raucous baritone sax player in Britain, if not the world) to play an improvised duet before each concert, cementing the connections we hear between the 'natural harmonics' of Dumitrescu's breakthrough compositional method and the instinctual reverberations pursued by unadministered rock and free improvisation. Our intention is to provide an INTELLIGENT PARTY for all those struggling against the anti-social power called 'money' and engaging in anti-commercial art and anti-capitalist protest. We shall be handing out free tickets whenever anti-capitalists and trade-unionists express interest in the AMM banner. Of course there are contradictions and paradoxes involved in this project to o'erleap the massy bulkhead between aesthetics and politics, but at least we can discuss these contradictions and problems at Conway Hall knowing that THIS IS WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. No human megaphones or pious mumbling (promise). The AMM is looking forward to meeting you!!

Tickets may be acquired by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Free Dumitrescu Tickets, Unkant Publishers, First Floor Office, Hoxton Point, 6 Rufus Street, London N1 6PE. Please include an indication of how many tickets you need. If you don't, you'll be sent two, forcing you to bring at least one extra new pair of ears with you.

The complete programme - without the Drenching/Wilkinson addition - can be studied by Googling "Spectrum XXI London".
